Annual Juan Pierre Stinks Column

As usual we're forced to run a spring post restating the fact that Pierre can't hit the ball out of the infield. This season Pierre's sub par defense has given us some extra ammunition in our fight to rid him from the roster. An outside the box idea might be for the Sox to reach out to our crosstown rivals and make a bid for the Japanese outfielder Fukadome if he can be had at a reasonable price. Fukadome has started the season hitting at a .400 clip and his defense would be a tremendous upgrade in either left or right field. His career numbers actually have his .OBP ranking a few points higher then the slap hitter Pierre.
