Sox Extend Matt Thorton

In a surprising move the Whitesox extended Matt Thorton for 2years 12million dollars this morning. The deal seems to be a steal for the Sox who were paying a beat up Bobby Jenks about 7 million dollars last season. It's also surprising Thorton accepted a 2 year deal with so many relievers bagging 3 year deals this off season for serious dough. This deal would also seem to give Ozzie Guillen more leverage in making his decision on a closer as Thorton seems content to pitch in Chicago no matter the role.

It's a great move all around except for those who cling to the idea that Joe Borchard could have been a power hitting star!
